" Si Dios clonase pan" is a sonic journey in which Alfonso Barbieri unfolds his artistic vision, weaving together pop, psychedelia, and touches of jazz and Latin jazz. Over eight tracks, Barbieri's voice merges with harps, synthesizers, and a horn section that in some passages verges on free jazz, while samples and organic percussion construct landscapes that oscillate between melancholic introspection and festive irony. Tracks like "Diapositivas" and "Sinestesia" showcase his fondness for sound collage and the exploration of textures, while the lyrics, laced with humor and criticism, reflect on the human condition in a dystopian present.
Released on November 1, 2024, by Club del Disco in digital format and available on a limited edition CD with original artwork by Alfonso Barbieri and Belén Parra, the album was recorded entirely at AIBCSHM Studios. Barbieri plays multiple roles as pianist, guitarist, arranger, and conductor, accompanied by collaborators such as Carlos Sada and Claudio Rodríguez on bass, Nicolás Porta on electric guitar, Sofía Bergallo on backing vocals, the Magnolia Quartet on strings, and a brass and woodwind ensemble arranged with Martín Villareal. Mixed by Eduardo Bazán and mastered by Andrés Mayo, Si Dios clonase pan adds to Barbieri's long career as a musician, visual artist, and storyteller of unique sound universes.
