“Big Bang” is the third and final chapter of the conceptual trilogy that Rafael Varela began with “Horizonte de Sucesos” (2020) and continued with “La Singularidad” (2023). These three albums build a journey inspired by astronomy: from the edge of a black hole to its center and, finally, toward what might exist on the other side. In “Big Bang,” that voyage culminates with the appearance of a new universe, closing a musical narrative centered on transformation.
Throughout the album, Varela brings together the different musical languages that have been part of his career, moving between funk, folk, soul, tango, blues, and pop. His experience as a producer, composer, and guitarist serves as the common thread of a deliberately diverse record, in which distinct styles coexist within a single sonic identity.
The vinyl edition features ten songs and includes guest artists such as Julián Kartún, Delfina Campos, Walter “Chino” Laborde, and Adriana Varela, among others. From “Solo una palabra” to “Ciudad Corazón,” “Big Bang” concludes the path initiated five years earlier and condenses the intersection of rock, tango, jazz, and song that runs through Rafael Varela's work.
