Agri - Romo - Messiez

Bandoneon player Horacio Romo, violinist Pablo Agri, and pianist Emiliano Messiez bring together three outstanding trajectories within contemporary tango. With international careers and a deep connection to the genre’s tradition, each has developed a distinctive voice: Romo as a leading figure of today’s bandoneon and a key presence in major tango projects; Agri as a violinist and composer of great expressive intensity, both inheritor and renewer of a family tradition; and Messiez, based in New York, as a pianist, composer, and musical director with broad global reach and high-profile collaborations.

The meeting of the three gives rise to a chamber format in which the dialogue between bandoneon, violin, and piano is at the core of the project. Agri–Romo–Messiez create a musical space where tradition and a contemporary perspective coexist, exploring collective dynamics, improvisation, and solo moments that highlight the identity of each performer. Their music offers a current reading of tango, open and constantly evolving, where interaction and deep listening play a central role.

This artistic pursuit takes shape in Con Todo, their most recent album, where the trio combines original compositions with new interpretations of the tango repertoire. Recorded between Argentina and the United States, the album expands their sonic universe through the participation of renowned guest musicians and consolidates an aesthetic that bridges tradition, exploration, and expressive intensity. The result is a vibrant and deeply contemporary chamber tango that reaffirms the trio’s identity within the international scene.
