¿Has escuchado realmente tu música?

Have you really listened to your music?

Listening to music can still surprise us. Sometimes in wonderful ways, and sometimes in rather disappointing ones.

At Club del Disco, we have often discussed how the digital revolution has changed not only the way we consume music, but also the way we actually listen to it.

Today, most people rely exclusively on streaming platforms. But how do they listen? On a mobile phone, a small Bluetooth speaker, or through the speakers of a laptop. Convenient? Absolutely. But unfortunately, a large part of the musical experience simply disappears.

The subtle textures of an acoustic guitar, the depth of a double bass, the natural reverberation of a concert hall, the precise placement of each instrument… all these details are often lost. It's a real pity, especially considering the incredible work musicians, producers, and engineers put into every recording.

This is one of the reasons why Club del Disco continues to believe in physical formats such as vinyl records and CDs. They preserve the quality and the artistic intention of the recording in a way that many compressed formats simply cannot.

A New Chapter: Dolby Atmos and Spatial Audio

Fortunately, digital audio is evolving.

One of the most exciting developments is Dolby Atmos, also known as Spatial Audio. Rather than simply reproducing sound from the left and right channels, Atmos creates a true three-dimensional sound field where instruments and voices occupy their own physical space.

Let's get a little technical.

Today there are three principal formats we work with:

High-Resolution Stereo

Our production standard is 24-bit / 96 kHz.

From this master we create:

  • CD masters (DDP, 16-bit / 44.1 kHz)
  • Vinyl masters
  • High-resolution stereo files for all streaming platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Qobuz and many others.

Dolby Atmos (7.1.4)

This is the current industry standard for immersive audio.

Produced at 24-bit / 48 kHz, it is supported by:Unlike conventional stereo, Dolby Atmos contains individual three-dimensional audio objects together with metadata that tells compatible devices exactly where every instrument or voice should appear in space.

Even better, Atmos automatically includes a binaural rendering, allowing listeners wearing headphones to enjoy a remarkably immersive experience.

Binaural Stereo

The third option is a dedicated binaural mix designed exclusively for headphones.

Unlike Atmos, this version is not intended for loudspeaker playback but creates an even stronger sensation of immersion when listened to through quality headphones. Platforms such as Bandcamp can host these versions with the appropriate notice indicating they are intended for headphone listening.

Where can you experience it?

If you ever have the opportunity to visit a Listening Bar equipped with a Dolby Atmos sound system, don't miss it. It is a completely different way of experiencing music.

The easier alternative? Put on a pair of high-quality headphones.

A good pair of headphones, such as the Bowers & Wilkins Px8 S2, reveals an astonishing amount of detail. Suddenly, you begin to notice tiny musical nuances, subtle reverbs, delicate percussion, room ambiance, and the exact position of every instrument. It truly becomes a "before and after" experience.

Many listeners tell us that once they discover immersive audio, it's difficult to go back.
