Alejandro Latinez Trio

Peruvian guitarist Alejandro Latinez leads this trio alongside bassist Joris Teepe and drummer Mike Clark, bringing together three trajectories that converge between Europe and New York. Trained between Barcelona and New York, Latinez represents an emerging voice in contemporary jazz, while Teepe, a well-established figure in the New York scene, provides a solid musical foundation and extensive experience as both performer and educator. The trio is completed by Mike Clark, one of the most influential drummers in jazz and funk, known for his work with Herbie Hancock and the Headhunters.

The project originated from the connection between Latinez and Teepe, who, in addition to being a mentor, promotes the New York Comes to Groningen program, bringing musicians from the New York scene to European students. Through this context, Latinez was able to move to New York to develop his music, leading to the encounter with Clark. In this trio, Teepe and Clark's experience not only supports the ensemble but also broadens and challenges the guitarist's voice, generating a space for shared learning and creation.

Together, the three musicians build a sound based on interaction, groove, and listening, where tradition and exploration coexist. The result is a trio that connects different generations of jazz in a common language, combining the energy of an emerging voice with the solidity and experience of two key figures in the genre.
